Southborough
Southborough was originally one of the four Boroughs that came within the domain of Tonbridge Castle.
Southborough has a small, but busy, High Street with local shops including convenience stores, butchers, wine merchants and a variety of restaurants. Other amenities include a combined area of 71 acres of woodland and Common, upon which cricket has been played for over 200 years. There are a selection of local primary schools, with a wide range of secondary and grammar schools available in the nearby towns of Royal Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge. In both of these towns, you will also find an extensive range of shopping facilities with many of the High Street retailers represented. Recreational facilities include many cafes, restaurants and bars, with sporting facilities including local golf, rugby and cricket clubs, the Tunbridge Wells Sports & Indoor Tennis Centre and the Knights Park Leisure Centre including tenpin bowling and cinema.
Southborough is situated immediately to the north of Royal Tunbridge Wells itself, with the A26 London Road passing through it, linking the A21 and M25 road network, allowing easy access to London and Kent coast. Also, for the commuter traveller, there is a choice of mainline stations at High Brooms, Royal Tunbridge Wells or Tonbridge, with services to London Charing Cross and Cannon Street.
